The Natchez Festival of Music has an entire month dedicated to live opera, Broadway, and jazz music.  The Mississippi Museum of Art, just north of the area, features a large permanent collection and stunning exhibitions such as the works of Georgia O’Keefe.

Golf

Southwest Mississippi has some of the finest golfing weather in the nation.  Year round golf is played at great courses, including beautiful Quail Hollow at Percy Quin State Park near McComb.

Hunting & Fishing

The area is famous for its large deer population and other wild game in places like the Homochitto National Forest.  Handsome lodges offer a great way to spend the weekend.  Fishing abounds throughout the region, including the brand new Lake Okhissa.

Sightseeing

The Natchez Trace Parkway is a leisurely scenic drive especially in the spring and autumn.  At the end of the road is historic Natchez with its incomparable ante-bellum homes beside the Mississippi River.  Just up the road is Port Gibson with its links to the Civil War.

Hiking, Bicycling, & Canoeing

A hike through the Clark Creek Natural Area offers a feel reminiscent of the Appalachian foothills.  Bikers enjoy the scenery of the Natchez Trace which runs from Natchez to Nashville.  The smooth Bogue Chitto and wide Pearl River are great for canoeing.
